鴻海創辦人郭台銘宣布投入總統大選並展開連署，他表示，參選是為了促成在野陣營的整合，整合才能致勝；大家共同商議出最適當的整合方式，實踐政權輪替。被問到曾承諾支持國民黨提名的侯友宜，郭僅表示，主流民意要下架民進黨，但在野藍白的參選人民調低落，不見整合跡象，人民焦慮失望，任何政治都要面對現實，大家要看清環境。
台北市長蔣萬安、台中市長盧秀燕等多位藍營政治領袖，隨即表態挺侯，批評郭沒有誠信。

August 28: 
Terry Gou, founder of Hon Hai Precision Industry Company (Foxconn), announced his candidacy for president and launched a campaign for signatures. According to Gou, he is running to facilitate the integration of the opposition camp, for integration is the only way to victory. Opposition candidates should negotiate the most appropriate way to integration so as to realize the transfer of political power. When asked about Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih, who he had promised to support, Gou stated that the mainstream public opinion is to remove the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) from power, but polls of the opposition KMT and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidates were low, and there was no sign of integration. The people are anxious and disappointed.  
KMT politicians, including Mayor Wayne Chiang of Taipei and Mayor Lu Shiow-yen of Taichung, immediately expressed their support for Hou and criticized Gou for his lack of integrity.

多名政治人物捲入的im.B吸金詐騙案，台北地檢署偵結，認定im.B七年間涉嫌以假債權吸金逾90億元，對主嫌曾耀鋒等人求處重刑。
至於行政院副院長鄭文燦、民進黨立委陳歐珀遭指控與曾嫌往來密切，北檢另案偵查。鄭文燦辦公室聲明，配合調查，禁得起考驗。

August 29: 
The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office found that in the im.B fraud case involving many politicians, more than NT$9 billion (about US$282 million) were defrauded with fake debts over seven years. The prosecutors sought heavy sentences for the main suspect Tseng Yao-feng and others.
As for Vice Premier Tseng Wen-tsan and DPP Legislator Chen Ou-po, who were accused of having close contact with Tseng, the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office stated that it is investigating these allegations separately. Vice Premier Tseng's office stated that it will cooperate with the judicial investigation and withstand scrutiny.

台北市長蔣萬安飛往上海，出席雙城論壇。蔣萬安引述祖父、故總統蔣經國之言，「時代在變，環境在變，潮流也在變」，往前走，在現實中調整腳步，務實面對發展，和平爭取雙贏。上海市長龔正在論壇致詞提到，歷史不能選擇、現在可以把握、未來可以開創；蔣萬安則五度強調雙城好、兩岸好。

August 29: 
Mayor Wayne Chiang of Taipei flew to Shanghai to attend the Taipei-Shanghai City Forum. Chiang quoted the words of his grandfather, late President Chiang Ching-kuo, that the times, environment, and trends are changing. The mayor stated the need to adjust the pace of cross-strait relations in the face of realities, promote development pragmatically, and endeavor for a win-win future. In his remarks at the forum, Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng stated that history cannot be chosen, but the present can be grasped and the future created. Mayor Chiang emphasized five times that good relations between the two cities can lay the foundation for good cross-strait relations.

拜登政府通知國會，擬透過「外國軍事融資」（ＦＭＦ）管道，援台8000萬美元；國務院稱這是史上首例，但並未如過去軍售公布通知國會的文本內容。據了解，這將是一批無償軍援，用來補充拜登政府七月底動用總統提撥授權（ＰＤＡ）提供給台灣的軍備所需。

August 30: 
The Biden administration notified Congress that it intends to aid Taiwan with $80 million through the "Foreign Military Financing" channel. The Department of State stated that this is the first such example for Taiwan but did not disclose the content of the notification to Congress as with past arms sales. According to reports, this will be a batch of free military aid to serve the military needs of Taiwan, supplementing that provided by the Biden administration in late July using the Presidential Drawdown Authority.

因應上半年蛋荒，農業部大舉進口雞蛋，並找貿易商配合採購，給予價差補貼。三月至七月，共採購補貼1.4億顆進口蛋。在野立委發現其中資本額僅50萬元、去年九月才成立的進口商超思，疑為一人公司，竟占了六成以上的進口量，獲得高達1.75億元的補貼，質疑其中有弊端。

August 30: 
In response to the egg shortage in the first half of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture (formerly Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan) imported a large number of eggs and asked traders to cooperate in purchasing, giving them a price differential subsidy. From March to July, a total of 140 million imported eggs were purchased and subsidized. Opposition legislators found that among them, an importer named Chaosi, which had a capital of only NT$500,000 (about US$15,635), established just in September last year, and likely a one-person company, accounted for more than 60 percent of Taiwan's import volume during this period and received a subsidy of nearly NT$175 million (about US$5.4 million), questioning corruption in the process.

英國下議院外交事務委員會發布印太戰略報告中指：「台灣已是個獨立國家，國名是中華民國。台灣擁有具國家地位的所有資格，包括常住人口、界定的領土、政府，以及與其他國家建立關係的能力，只是缺乏更廣泛的國際承認」。
委員會主席克恩斯說，這是英國國會報告首度做出這樣的聲明；他們承認中國的立場，但不接受這樣的立場。外交大臣必須堅定地、公開地支持台灣，並明確表示將維護台灣的自決權。

August 30: 
In its Indo-Pacific strategy report, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United Kingdom House of Commons stated that Taiwan is already an independent country, the name of which is the Republic of China. Taiwan has all the qualifications for statehood, including a permanent population, defined territory, government, and ability to establish relations with other countries but lacks wider international recognition.
Alicia Kearns, the committee's chair, stated that this is the first such statement made by a British parliamentary report. They acknowledge China's position but do not accept its position. According to Kearns, the Foreign Secretary must firmly and openly support Taiwan and make it clear that Taiwan's right to self-determination will be upheld.

國防部112年中共軍力報告書研判，中共犯台可能性及軍事衝突風險升高，中國國家主席習近平可能在第3任期(2023-2028年)內，推動解決台灣問題進程。報告並指，中共軍委會將領具備實戰經驗、科技專長及熟稔台海事務等資歷，如軍委副主席張又俠曾參加中越戰爭等戰役，破格留任，軍委副主席何衛東則曾任東部戰區司令員，均熟稔對台戰備事務。

In its 2023 report on the military capabilities of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the Ministry of National Defense assesses that the possibility and risk of military conflict with Taiwan had increased. Chinese President Xi Jinping may push for a resolution of the Taiwan issue during his third term from 2023 to 2028. According to the report, leaders of Communist China's Central Military Commission (CMC) have qualifications such as combat experience, technological expertise, and familiarity with Taiwan Strait affairs. For example, Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the CMC, participated in battles in the Sino-Japanese War and is continuing service on an exceptional basis. He Weidong, vice chairman of the CMC, was commander of the Eastern Theater Command and is familiar with military preparation affairs related to Taiwan.

美麗島電子報公布最新滾動式民調，在4組參選人情況下，民進黨賴清德支持度從逾40%掉至35.3%，但仍居第一；國民黨侯友宜17.8%，回升至第二名；民眾黨柯文哲跌至17.1%，位居第三名；鴻海創辦人郭台銘11.6%，居於末位。

September 1: 
The My Formosa e-newsletter released the latest opinion poll. With four candidates, support for the DPP's William Lai fell from 40 percent to 35.3 percent but is still ranked first. The KMT's Hou Yu-ih rose to second with 17.8 percent, while the TPP's Ko Wen-je fell to 17.1 percent, ranking third. Terry Gou, founder of Foxconn, ranked last with 11.6 percent.
