跨太平洋夥伴全面進步協定執行委員會年度大會落幕,主席國加拿大宣布,哥斯大黎加成為下一個準會員國。台灣和中國大陸入會申請案都被擱置。我政府表示深切失望,再次呼籲CPTPP成員國早日成立我國入會工作小組,不應有政治考量。

The annual meeting of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Executive Committee concluded, with Canada, the chair, announcing that Costa Rica will become the next prospective member, while the membership applications of Taiwan and mainland China have been put on hold. Taiwan expressed deep disappointment and once again called on CPTPP member countries to establish a working group for Taiwan's membership as soon as possible, without political considerations.

主計總處公布最新經濟預測,今年經濟成長率由原先的3.9%上修至4.27%,調整0.37個百分點,創近三年新高;同步上修明年經濟成長率預測為3.29%,比八月上修0.03個百分點。主計總處分析,台灣經濟表現不錯,只是產業復甦不太均衡。

The Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) announced the latest economic forecast, revising the economic growth rate for this year from the original 3.9 percent to 4.27 percent, an adjustment of 0.37 percentage point, marking a new high in nearly three years. The forecast for economic growth for the next year was also revised upward to 3.29 percent, an increase of 0.03 percentage point from August. DGBAS analyzed that Taiwan's economic performance is good, but the recovery of various industries is not very balanced.

國軍大專制軍校課程將有調整,據了解,經國家安全會議要求,同時配合行政院「國家轉型正義教育行動綱領」,通識教育將刪除「中國現代史」,改為「世界歷史」,另縮減國文含孫子兵法、英文課程,用來新設「近代思想」與「人權與民主發展」課程。

The military academy curriculum of the Armed Forces will be adjusted. At the request of the National Security Council and in line with the Executive Yuan's action plan on national transitional justice education, "Modern Chinse History" will be removed from general education and replaced with "World History." Additionally, Chinese literature, including Sun Tzu's Art of War, and English courses will be reduced to make way for new courses on "Modern Thought" and "Human Rights and Democratic Development."

The Ma Ying-jeou Foundation invited a group of mainland Chinese students to visit Taiwan. Controversy arose when a female student, during an interview, congratulated the "Taipei, China" team for winning the championship in the World Baseball Classic. Minister Chiu Chui-cheng of the Mainland Affairs Council stated that the group made "many" political statements and propaganda unrelated to the visit, which belittled Taiwan. Administrative penalties are being considered, and the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation may be banned from inviting mainland Chinse groups to visit Taiwan for six months to five years. The mainland student tearfully blamed herself. Executive Director Hsiao Hsu-tsen of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation responded that the systems and terminology across the strait are different, and the female student did not actively express unification sentiments.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of martial law shocked the world. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) caucus of the Legislative Yuan posted on Threads in support, linking the event to the legislative budget review in Taiwan and criticizing the Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) as dark forces eroding the country. The controversial comments sparked widespread criticism. The DPP caucus quickly deleted the post but posted again late at night, claiming it was merely "sharing" an international development and comparing it to the domestic political situation, rather than voicing support for martial law.

A female teacher who had won the Teacher's Award was assaulted and murdered by a suspect. The suspect surnamed Liu was sentenced to death five times, but after the Constitutional Court's ruling on the death penalty, his sentence was reversed to life imprisonment, making him the first case to escape the death penalty after the ruling. This caused an uproar, and the victim’s family and related victim rights groups protested in front of the Presidential Office Building.

The 21st Military Police Battalion, which is responsible for guarding the Presidential Office Building, was involved in selling official information to Communist China. Four officers, including Sergeant Lai Chong-yu, who had been discharged, were accused of using their phones to photograph and sell confidential information, earning approximately NT$1.8 million (about US$56,000) in illegal gains. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office has concluded the investigation and indicted the four on charges of corruption and bribery.
